Jennika is the fifth Ninja Turtle and the only female on the team.The decision to make Michelangelo the last of the surviving turtles was made by Eastman and Waltz. When asked why Michelangelo was chosen by the writers, Waltz stated: The simplest answer is that Mikey was the brother we figured nobody would expect.After being severely wounded by Karai, Jennika is transformed into a mutant turtle when Donatello uses Leonardo's blood to give her an emergency blood transfusion. As a mutant turtle, she wears a yellow mask and wields tekkō-kagi.
In the current IDW Comics timeline, Jennika is the fifth Ninja Turtle and the first female to join the team. However, hardcore TMNT fans know that this title only applies to comic books. When considering the whole franchise, Jennika is the second female Ninja Turtle.
