Damage is the amount of wounds removed from a target after they fail their wound save. So, if i fire a lasgun (d1) and I hit, wound, and you fail your save, one wound is removed from the unit. If i do the same with a lascannon (d6) then I roll a dice and the ubit loses that many wounds.

Incursion and Strike Force games (1000 points / 2000 points) are played on a 44×60" board. Onslaught games (3000+ points) are played on a 44×90" board. Boarding Action, a new game type added in early 2023 as part of 9th edition, is played on a custom ~55.4×47.I think we could see games of around 2000 points get wrangled back under three hours after some practice. People are also going to fall into a kind of meta, or at least start having favorite units that they know pretty well and will help speed things up.
Can you play 30k in 40K : You can mix and match as much as you like. For instance if you want to put some 30k mk3 space marines in your 40k space marine mk7 army you can do. The only limitation is if you want to follow the Lore then having mk3 marines with say primaris may not be the best move but it's up to you.
