Max, formerly and commonly referred as HBO Max, is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service. It is a proprietary unit of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment, which is itself a division of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).
Is Max still on HBO : Max is the enhanced service replacing HBO Max. The service will feature iconic programming, including all the HBO content you already love, like Game of Thrones. It will also be home to crave-worthy genres, plus some of the most anticipated premieres.
Do I have to pay for Max if I have HBO Max
If you're a current HBO Max subscriber, you won't need to sign up for Max. The HBO Max app will either automatically update to Max, or when you open HBO Max, you'll be prompted to download the Max app. That's it—happy streaming!
Is HBO Max 100% free : Unfortunately, Max does not offer free trials, but the streaming giant has free episodes and previously announced promotions such the 40% off deal from earlier this year, and a $1.99/monthly deal for Black Friday in 2023.

Why did Max drop HBO
Warner Bros. Discovery's revamped subscription service is just called “Max,” and the company explained why it dropped the HBO branding at a press event on Wednesday. This subscription will grant you access to the HBO television channels (there are seven 24-hour HBO networks on traditional pay television), which you can check the schedule for here.Anyway, the thinking was that the new Max name was needed to reflect that it's a place where you can watch not only, say, “Euphoria” and “Barry” but also stuff like “90 Day Fiancé,” Jonathan and Drew Scott's “Property Brothers” and Shark Week episodes.
